The Capitol District of the City of Richmond is an area in Richmond bounded by Broad Street, Eighth Street, Main Street and Interstate 95. The area is known for the Virginia State Capitol, The Governor’s Mansion, Old City Hall, and many high-rise corporate buildings and state buildings. Despite the presence of government and business, the Capitol District is a thriving neighborhood. Within the Capitol District, apartment buildings are the dominant housing type. While there aren’t many condos or single-family homes, residents enjoy a walkable urban vibe with homes, restaurants, bars and music venues, all with Capitol Square Park at its center.
