Carver and Newtowne West are historic neighborhoods located between Downtown Richmond and North Side. he neighborhood is home to an abundance of VCU students, great restaurants and two national historic districts, The Carver Industrial Historic District and Carver Residential Historic District. Carver and Newtowne West are home to a variety of architectural styles, including Colonial Revival, Queen Anne, and Italianate, among others. Many of the homes in Carver and Newtowne West were built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and have since been updated and restored.
